SETTING GOALS IN 2022

SETTING GOALS

Setting goals in 2022 is something you should do before the beginning of the New Year. Setting goals can help you in different ways which is what we will be discussing about today in this post. “When you fail to plan, you plan to fail”.

When you don’t have a Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Relevant and Time bound goals, you will find out that you won’t be able to do much.

Let’s take a day for instance, when you don’t have any plan on how to spend your day, you will entertain anything that comes your way. That is how it is with goals. When you don’t have a definite goal or goals planned out, you will lose focus.

BEFORE YOU SET A GOAL

Before you set a goal, you should make up your mind and be willing to face any obstacles. Open your mind to your goals. Look deep through you for the things you really want to achieve. Make sure that all the goals you want to achieve are the ones you are willing to embark on a journey to get.

WHEN SETTING A GOAL

When setting a goal, you should strive to set goals that are relevant to you, because this will help you stay motivated. It is very easy to say, this is what I want to do, and to set a goal or a plan on how to achieve it. But, it really gets tough along the line. That is why you need to set goals that are relevant to you.

When setting a goal, you should outline the strength and weakness of each of your goals so as to know how you will overcome any potential pitfalls that comes your way.

When setting a goal, you should try to break down your goals into stepping stones. Break down your one year goals into months, weeks and days. You can decide to break them down quarterly. Anyone that you feel will be okay for you to set and achieve, is fine. Set the duration that is more favorable to you.

AFTER SETTING A GOAL

After setting your goals, examining your resources will also help in goal achievement. When you check the resources you already have and the ones you will need to achieve your goal, you will find out that achieving that goal will be a lot easier. A quick question to ask yourself after setting your goal is; do you already have what it takes to achieve those goals?

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE A GOAL

You probably will be asking why I need to set a goal.  Well! You need to have and set a goal because, having a goal can make you:

  1. Have a focus
  2. Know what you really want
  3. Become successful in every aspect of your life
  4. Help you to be disciplined
  5. Be happy

1. HAVE A FOCUS

Setting a goal can make you have focus. Once you set a goal, your brain will start processing this is what we are working on. So, whenever you want to deviate from your original plan, it draws you back to the main focus.

2. KNOW WHAT YOU REALLY WANT

The journey of setting a goal will help you to really know what you want. A lot of people don’t know what they really want. They just live with what the day brings. Some just follow the normal earthly rule of:  Going to school. Graduate. Get a job. Get married. Build a house and then give birth. That is life for them, not bad though but when you set a goal you will find out that there are more to life than that kind of ideology. Setting a goal will make you know what you really want and help you discover what you want as well.

3. BECOME SUCCESSFUL IN EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE

Setting a goal can help you become successful in every aspect of your life. It will help you build habits that will turn you into a better person. It helps with continual improvement. When you have a focus and know what you want, you will work towards it and achieve it. Thereby, living a fulfilled life.

4. HELP YOU TO BE DISCIPLINED

Goal setting helps you understand the importance of time management. It will help you to be disciplined, setting a target and working towards getting it done. When you have a goal, you will always be up and doing.

5. BE HAPPY

When you set a goal and achieve it, your life will be more meaningful. You will be happier. I for example, whenever I achieve a goal I set for myself, there is this joy that always stay in heart. Whenever I feel down and remember that I have achieved this, that happiness and joy comes back and makes me to be happy again.

If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy and inspires your hopes.” – Andrew Carnegie.

FINAL THOUGHT

Goal setting is very important in our daily lives. Learning to set goals and achieve them will help you a lot. Life makes more sense when it’s not lived the normal way. It makes more meaning when you go extra mile in trying to make things happen and not just following the rule of life. Or what is called the mediocre life.
